Softball Recap: Pleasant Grove Wins Going Away Against Skyridge

Pleasant Grove had won three straight on the road, but on Thursday they bumped their record up to 17-5 to make it four. They put the hurt on the Skyridge Falcons with a sharp 16-2 win. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Maya Parry and Maile Larsen did most of the damage at the plate: Parry went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs, while Larsen went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Larsen has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mary Severe, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Pleasant Grove kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive matches.

As for Skyridge, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.

On Skyridge's side, Awtumn Lorenzo made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run and one stolen base.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pleasant Grove will challenge Lehi at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pioneers have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season. As for Skyridge, they will be taking part in a tournament against Wasatch at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
