Spartanburg is 1-9 against Dorman since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Vikings will host the Cavaliers at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Spartanburg's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three matches.
On Wednesday, Spartanburg earned a 13-8 win over Wade Hampton. The victory continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Generals: they've now won three in a row.
Madi House and Carlee Richards did most of the damage at the plate: House went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Richards went 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Richards has posted since back in March. Olivia Lister was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Spartanburg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .474. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Dorman, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Boiling Springs 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cavaliers have posted since April 18, 2024.
Leah Taylor was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Emerson McLane, who went 3-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.
Dorman is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Spartanburg, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
Both Spartanburg and Dorman just can't seem to miss. The Vikings have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Dorman struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.1 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Spartanburg came up short against Dorman in their previous meeting back in March, falling 6-2. Will the Vikings have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
