A well-balanced attack led the Columbia Academy Bulldogs over the University School of Nashville Tigers in every quarter on their way to victory on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Columbia Academy blew the Tigers out of the water with a 55-19 final score. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 31-9.
Columbia Academy found their leader in underclassman Reese Shirley, who scored 24 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Shirley has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Charley rae Hutchison was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with three steals.
Despite the loss, University School of Nashville still got an impressive performance from Josie Whelan, who scored four points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Columbia Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-13 record this season. As for University School of Nashville, they dropped their record down to 5-18 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.
Columbia Academy will head out on the road to challenge the Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Cecilia Academy has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 22.
