Mid-Ohio - Red recap October 22, 2013
River Valley extended the longest winning streak in Mid-Ohio - Red this week by beating Jonathan Alder, 28-21. The victory was the eighth in a row for the team.
Elgin scaled the state rankings by moving to 501 from 535 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Comets climbed the ranks as a result of besting Northmor 45-26.
Buckeye Valley's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Tim Schilling threw for 39 yards and Ben Kidwell had 29 yards receiving. On the ground Dashawn Haynes chipped in 14 yards. Gabe Miller helped Buckeye Valley's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 10 yards.
Haynes was the best running back in the league this week. In 7 carries, he ran for 14 yards as the Barons lost to North Union. Teammate Jonathan Amato added to the ground attack by rushing for 15 yards.
Buckeye Valley's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Barons feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Schilling has thrown for 237 yards and 2 touchdowns this season, while Austin Kelleher has 5 catches for 132 yards.
The Wildcats are currently in second, while the Pioneers are in fourth.
Elgin made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,225 from 9,854. The improvement was largely due to a 45-26 victory over the Golden Knights last week.
