The Shorecrest Prep Chargers will venture away from home to take on the Osceola Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Shorecrest Prep is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.1 runs per game this season.
Shorecrest Prep will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Thursday, then bounced right back against Northside Christian on Monday. The Chargers came out on top against the Mustangs by a score of 12-1 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The victory continues a trend for the Chargers in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won seven in a row.
Samantha Beltran made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Beltran was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Shorecrest Prep got a massive performance out of Bobbie Strus, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Sarah Ayscue also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Shorecrest Prep hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive matchups.
Osceola came out on top against Land O' Lakes on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run third inning. The Warriors skirted past the Gators 7-5. The win was nothing new for the Warriors as they're now sitting on three straight.
Aliyah Lai spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Angelina Rodriguez was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with four RBI and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Bri Shephard, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Shorecrest Prep's record is now 11-5. As for Osceola, their record now sits at 17-6.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Shorecrest Prep has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Osceola struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.9 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
