The Fresno Christian Eagles can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. Everything went their way against Riverdale as Fresno Christian made off with a 43-23 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Fresno Christian has posted against Riverdale since February 9, 2018.
Fresno Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sarah Guglielmana led the charge by dropping a double-double on 17 points and 16 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Guglielmana has scored at least a third of Fresno Christian's points. Another player making a difference was Anna Pascual, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Despite the loss, Riverdale still got an impressive performance from Karen Ayala, who scored 11 points. That was a full 47.8% of Riverdale's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Fresno Christian's victory bumped their record up to 7-17. As for Riverdale, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 13 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fresno Christian will take on Minarets at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Minarets comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 19 points in their last five games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. Riverdale on the road again on Tuesday and play against Yosemite at 5:30 p.m. on January 30th. Yosemite has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
