Given Evansville Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while New Albany is ranked 253rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Evansville Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Madalynn Shirley, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and six blocks. Shirley is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Mya Skelton, who scored 11 points along with five steals.
Evansville Central has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. As for New Albany, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-18.
