Football Recap: Hobbs Piles Up the Points Against Parkland

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hobbs). They took their contest on Friday with ease, bagging a 49-22 win over the Parkland Matadors. The Eagles have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Matadors, too.

Junior Medrano was his usual excellent self, rushing for 136 yards and two scores on only 14 carries, while also throwing for 148 yards and three touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Hobbs was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 297 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 266 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Parkland's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jesse Molina, who threw for 131 yards and a pair of TDs, and Jamal Rocha, who picked up 80 receiving yards and one score.

Hobbs' record is now 3-1. As for Parkland, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hobbs will venture away from home to take on Las Cruces at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 860 yards in their previous games. As for Parkland, they will head out to challenge Coronado at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
