The Fort Meade Miners will square off against the George Jenkins Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fort Meade is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.6 runs per game this season.
Fort Meade came up short against Lake Region on Monday, falling 11-1. The contest marked the Miners' lowest-scoring match so far this season.
Fort Meade saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Marleigh Carroll, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, George Jenkins never let their opponents score two weeks ago. Everything went their way against Frostproof as George Jenkins made off with an 11-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won four games by six runs or more so far this season.
Jazlyn Duque made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Reese Yungbluth, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Janalyn Duque, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
George Jenkins was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
George Jenkins now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Fort Meade, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Fort Meade has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.6 hits per game. However, it's not like George Jenkins struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 2.9 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Fort Meade suffered a grim 13-6 defeat to George Jenkins when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Fort Meade avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
