In what's become a running theme this season, the Liberty Lions gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 57-29 win over Freedom on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Liberty has posted yet this season.
Shyanne Smith was her usual excellent self, going 7 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points and 2 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Madison Perea, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 16 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Freedom had strong showings from Ariel De La O, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and five steals, and Eve Monzon, who scored 11 points. That was a full 37.9% of Freedom's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Freedom struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Liberty racked up 16 assists.
Liberty is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-8 record this season. As for Freedom, their defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 6-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Liberty will take on Antioch at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Antioch is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Freedom, they will be playing at home against Pittsburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Pittsburg focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Tuesday.
