The Orem Tigers were the 61-60 winner over the Salem Hills Skyhawks when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Orem fell just short of Salem Hills by a score of 63-61. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Tuesday (60), Orem still had to take the loss.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Asher Young, who scored 16 points. The match was Young's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kai Wesley, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
Chase Degraffenried was his usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with seven rebounds for Salem Hills. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Degraffenried has scored at least 25% of Salem Hills' points. Kason Averett was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals.
Orem are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-4. As for Salem Hills, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.
Orem and Foothill will face off at 10:30 a.m. on December 21st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in their respective states (Foothill is ranked 21st in Nevada, while Orem is ranked 34th in Utah). Salem Hills will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Del Norte at 9:00 a.m. on December 21st.
