Paige Liezert spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 20 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lulu Johnston, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Evi Cuevas was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one RBI.
Crown Point was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Penn only posted a batting average of .185.
Meanwhile, Center Grove faced Floyd Central in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Trojans walked away with a 5-1 win over the Highlanders.
Riley Fuhr looked comfortable as she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
At the plate, Taylor Barrett was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was Addison Wolff, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.
Crown Point's record now sits at 30-4. As for Center Grove, their record is now 26-3.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Crown Point has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Center Grove struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance. Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
