Baseball Recap: Raymondville Finds Home Field Redemption Against Rio Hondo

There's no place like home for Raymondville, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They blew past the Rio Hondo Bobcats 12-2 on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Bearkats, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Jacob Sosa made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Sosa was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Noel Reta, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Raymondville is undefeated when Reta posts two or more runs, but 7-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Tommy Gonzalez, who went 1-for-2 with three runs and one stolen base.

Raymondville's record is now 16-10. As for Rio Hondo, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-11.

Coming up, Raymondville is taking a road trip to square off against Lyford at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bearkats will need to watch out since the Bulldogs have now posted at least ten runs in their last four contests. Rio Hondo does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
