The Texas Tigers will head out to take on the Hallsville Bobcats at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Texas comes in on five and Hallsville on nine.
On Tuesday, Texas got the win against Nacogdoches by a conclusive 3-0.
The final score came out to 25-11, 25-18, 25-14.
Texas' success was spearheaded by the efforts of Cruz Hopkins, who had eight assists and five digs, and Sydney Woods, who had nine digs and two assists.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Hallsville took on Whitehouse on Tuesday. The Bobcats won by a set and slipped past the Wildcats 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bobcats have posted since August 23rd.
Hallsville took Whitehouse into a fifth set where they got it done with a four-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-14, 24-26, 21-25, 15-11.
Hallsville found their leader in sophomore Lyla Evans, who had 12 digs and two aces. Shelby Folmar also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.
Hallsville was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in August.
Texas' record is now 18-14. As for Hallsville, their record now sits at 23-9.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's contest: Texas has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 5.8 aces per game. However, it's not like Hallsville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.1 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Texas couldn't quite get it done against Hallsville in their previous matchup back in August as they fell 3-1. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
