After flying high against the Zanesville Blue Devils last Thursday, the New Lexington Panthers came back down to earth. New Lexington fell 39-28 to Circleville on Thursday. While losing is never fun, New Lexington can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 263rd, while Circleville is ranked 25th).
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Trinity Cook, who scored six points along with ten rebounds and three steals. Cook continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Abby Wilson, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds and three blocks.
New Lexington's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Circleville, their win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-0.
New Lexington's road trip will continue as they head out to face Notre Dame at 5:30 p.m. on December 30th. Hopefully Notre Dame focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 last Thursday. As for Circleville, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Westfall at 7:30 p.m. on December 30th.
