Lugoff-Elgin is a perfect 9-0 against Westwood since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Demons will look to defend their home field against the Redhawks at 7:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Tuesday.
Westwood will be up against a hot Lugoff-Elgin team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Demons' pitcher stepped up to hand Ridge View a 12-0 shutout on Thursday.

Haleigh Miranda was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted over her last eight matchups. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Lugoff-Elgin got a massive performance out of Kayley Lynch, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Lynch also put up a triple, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Carley Bell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Lugoff-Elgin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .478. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .457 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Westwood). They put the hurt on Spring Valley with a sharp 16-6 win on Thursday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Redhawks considering their two-run performance the game before.
Like Lugoff-Elgin, Westwood also got a great game from a two-way player: Annarea Wilson. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Wilson has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.
In other batting news, Azaria Belton and Nayanna Shannon did most of the damage at the plate: Belton scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4, while Shannon scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Izzy Ridgeway was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2.
Westwood's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-12. As for Lugoff-Elgin, their win bumped their record up to 6-11.
Lugoff-Elgin came out on top in a nail-biter against Westwood when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 5-4. Do the Demons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Redhawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
