Softball Recap: Portageville Comes Up Short

Portageville lost against Malden back in March of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Green Wave by a score of 11-9. The Bulldogs' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Avery Presley made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-4. Reece Rone also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Portageville's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Malden, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 7-3.

Portageville wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 14-3 defeat against Kennett on the 1st. As for Malden, they will head out on the road to face off against Scott City at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
