If Culver City was feeling good fresh off their 43-6 takedown of Narbonne last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Centaurs took a 34-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Salesian Mustangs on Friday. The Centaurs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.
Despite the loss, Culver City still got an impressive performance from Nicholas Hoang, who threw for 239 yards and two TDs, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground.
While Culver City came up short, they sure didn't make it easy for Salesian: they limited their QB to completion percentage of just 48.4%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from five players: Marcelo Cardenas, Evan Powell, Jesse Gramajo, Jonah Givens, and Mario Reyes, who each logged one passes deflected. Culver City wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 57.9%.

Culver City didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Powell, Cardenas, and Derrick Huezo Jr. picked up one apiece. Jordan Njoku was another major factor on D, making 18 total tackles (1.0 for loss).
Salesian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Marty Slye, who threw for 241 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also punched in a pair of scores on the ground. 81 of Slye's passing yards were hauled in by Stephen Ouvaroff, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
Having lost for the first time this season, Culver City fell to 2-1. As for Salesian, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Culver City will host Warren at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Salesian, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Damien at 7:00 p.m.
