North Sanpete is 2-8 against Emery since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The North Sanpete Hawks will be playing at home against the Emery Spartans at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
While it was all tied up 39-39 at halftime, North Sanpete was not quite Manti's equal in the second half on Wednesday. They fell 75-65 to the Templars. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for North Sanpete in their matchups with Manti: they've now lost four in a row.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Dimick Huntington, who scored 26 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ridge Hendry, who scored 17 points along with six assists and four steals.
North Sanpete struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Emery put the finishing touches on their ninth blowout victory of the season on Wednesday. They blew past Carbon 69-44. Winning may never get old, but Emery sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Emery's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Wade Stilson, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. Stilson hasn't dropped below three steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Zack Tuttle, who scored 15 points along with six assists and six rebounds.
North Sanpete's loss was their eighth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Emery, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.
Friday's game is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: North Sanpete have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 45.4% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Emery struggles in that department as they've made 47% of their threes this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
North Sanpete was taken down by Emery 75-40 in their previous matchup back in January. Will North Sanpete have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other basketball content.
