Basketball Game Preview: Central City Bison vs. David City Scouts

Central City is 8-2 against David City since December of 2014 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Central City Bison will be playing in front of their home fans against the David City Scouts at 6:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Central City comes in on seven and David City on three.

Central City is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Madison: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Central City blew Madison out of the water with a 59-20 final score. The Bison have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 23 points or more this season.

Central City found their leader in sophomore Hope Paup, who posted 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Paup has scored all season. Sydni Homolka was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask David City). They took their matchup on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 54-18 win over Shelby-Rising City. Given the Scouts' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 91st, while the Huskies are ranked 237th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Central City's victory was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-2. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.1 points per game. As for David City, their win bumped their record up to 9-7.

Central City was able to grind out a solid victory over David City in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, winning 41-30. Does Central City have another victory up their sleeve, or will David City turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
