After a string of 12 wins, the Risco Tigers's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of Westwood Baptist Academy by a score of 40-37. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Risco has scored all season.
Leading Westwood Baptist Academy to victory were James Hawley and Ben Jones. Hawley scored 17 points along with six rebounds, while Jones dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Hawley has scored at least a third of Westwood Baptist Academy's points.
Risco's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 20-4. As for Westwood Baptist Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 21-3 record this season.
Risco won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Hayti at 6:00 p.m. on February 13th. Hayti is coming into the matchup with three straight losses at home, meaning Risco will have to defend against a team hungry for a win. As for Westwood Baptist Academy, they will take on Lighthouse Prep Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lighthouse Prep Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings (they are ranked 544th, while Westwood Baptist Academy is ranked 164th).
