Baseball Recap: Landon Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Victory

Landon waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They put the hurt on the Avalon Black Knights with a sharp 11-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Zach Burstein, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Manny Monsalve was another key player, earning one RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Landon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive contests.

Landon's victory was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. As for Avalon, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

Landon will take on Episcopal at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Maroon have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.22 runs per game on average), something the Bears will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Avalon, they will face off against Georgetown Prep at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
