After flying high against Christian Academy-Louisville  on Tuesday, Shelby County came back down to earth. The Rockets took  a  14-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Model Patriots on Wednesday. The Rockets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their  defeat the last time these teams played  back in April of 2024.
 Kaylee Cox put in work no matter where she played. She  didn't allow a single  earned run and  allowed only two  hits over 4.2 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't  tossed less than five  strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box,  going 1-for-4 with one  triple, one  stolen base,  and two  RBI.

 In other batting news,  Madison Clark was cooking despite her team's loss,   going 2-for-4 with three  runs, one  triple,  and one  stolen base. She is  on a roll when it comes to  stolen bases, as she's  now  snagged  at least one in each of the last six games she's  played.  Abby Blanton was another key player,  going 2-for-3 with two  runs and one  stolen base.
Shelby County's loss dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Model,  the  victory made it two in a row for them and  bumps their season record up to 15-5.
 Looking ahead, Shelby County will take on Carroll County at 6:00  p.m.  on Thursday. As for Model, they will face off against Lincoln County at 6:00  p.m.  on Friday.
