Softball Game Preview: Lipan Indians vs. Valley Mills Eagles

For the second straight game, Lipan will face off against Valley Mills. The Indians will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. One thing working in Lipan's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last six matches.

Lipan proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by 15) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Valley Mills 12-11.

Lipan got a massive performance out of Ryan Atkinson, who went 3-for-5 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those four runs gave Atkinson a new career-high. Gentry Kirkland was another key player, going 1-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Lipan pushed their record up to 9-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Valley Mills, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-3.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Lipan hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Valley Mills struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.8 home runs.
