The Fort Bend Clements Rangers put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They greeted the New Year with with a 60-46 win over Fort Bend Hightower. Given Fort Bend Clements' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while Fort Bend Hightower is ranked 114th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Divine Ugochukwu was his usual excellent self, scoring 18 points along with eight assists and six rebounds. The matchup was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Clark, who scored nine points along with ten rebounds and four blocks.
Fort Bend Clements' victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Fort Bend Hightower, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 12-5.
Fort Bend Clements will head out on the road to face off against Fort Bend Dulles at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Fort Bend Hightower, they will be playing at home against Fort Bend Austin at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
