Mount View is 1-9 against River View since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Golden Knights will be playing at home against the Raiders at 5:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Mount View is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by an 18-3 margin over Twin Valley on Saturday. That's two games straight that the Golden Knights have won by exactly 15 runs.
Shianne Belcher was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Belcher was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-2. She also put up three RBI, which were her first of the season.
In other batting news, Ry'Anna Hood was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while going 1-for-1. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Cook, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Mount View always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .708. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, River View gave up the first runs last Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They put the hurt on Van with a sharp 27-13 win. The victory continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won five in a row.
Mileigh Goodman was a standout: she went 5-for-6 with five runs, six RBI, and two stolen bases. Lilly Perkins was another key player, firing off four runs, three doubles, and four RBI while going 4-for-6.
River View now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Mount View, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season.
River View's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Mount View has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 11.2 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for River View, though, as they've been averaging only 3.3 strikeouts. Will Mount View keep running through batters, or will the Raiders buck the trend?
