Saluda has played every game this season on their home court, but they'll have to hit the road on Thursday. They will face off against the Ridge Spring-Monetta Trojans at 6:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Tuesday, Saluda was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 32-27 to Strom Thurmond. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Saluda in their matchups with Strom Thurmond: they've now lost three in a row.
Meanwhile, Ridge Spring-Monetta managed to keep up with Gilbert until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Ridge Spring-Monetta was beaten by Gilbert 62-31. Ridge Spring-Monetta found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and post nine fewer assists than your opponent.
Despite the defeat, Ridge Spring-Monetta saw an underclassman step up: Taylah Leaphart scored 16 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Leaphart scored a full 51.6% of Ridge Spring-Monetta's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Saluda's victory bumped their season record to 1-1 while Strom Thurmond's loss dropped theirs to 5-2.
Saluda strolled past Ridge Spring-Monetta when the teams last played last Tuesday by a score of 58-39. The rematch might be a little tougher for Saluda since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
