The Kenwood Broncos will head out to take on the St. Rita Mustangs at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Kenwood sitting on five straight wins and St. Rita on four.
Kenwood will bounce into Saturday's contest after beating Chicago Mt. Carmel, who they had gone 0-5 against in their five prior meetings. The Broncos walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Caravan on Thursday. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 23, 2017, but that streak is no more.

Evan Stinson tossed a big game, tossing 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. He is becoming a predictor of Kenwood's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 2-0-1 (and 4-5 when he doesn't).
On the hitting side, Kenwood saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Damaurion Butler, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Lance Moon also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Rita). They were the clear victors by a 21-1 margin over Bogan on Friday. With that win, the Mustangs brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.
Steve Gonzalez looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).
At the plate, Peyton Panozzo was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits he has posted over his last 13 games. Another player making a difference was Jaden Rivera, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
St. Rita hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in five consecutive matchups.
St. Rita's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-10. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. As for Kenwood, they now have a winning record of 6-5-1.
Saturday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Kenwood hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .354. However, it's not like St. Rita struggles in that department as they've averaged .325. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
