The Middle College Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight defeat. They were the victim of a tough 62-42 loss at the hands of Horace Mann UCLA Community. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Middle College of the 58-38 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.
Middle College's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lebron Hasan, who scored four points along with five rebounds and three steals. Hasan is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Jose Moreno was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with nine rebounds.
Derrick Boston was nothing short of spectacular for Horace Mann UCLA Community: he scored 27 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nasir May, who scored eight points.
Middle College's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Horace Mann UCLA Community, their win bumped their record up to 7-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Middle College will take on the Wolverines at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Foshay is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 60.1 points per game this season. As for Horace Mann UCLA Community, they will be playing at home against the Sharks at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Math & Science College Preparatory is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
