The Cottage Cougars had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They came out on top against Varsity Opponent by a score of 34-26. The score was all tied up 14-14 at the break, but Cottage was the better team in the second half.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cottage to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alyssa Briggs, who scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was Gabby Pressnall, who scored ten points.
Cottage's win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Varsity Opponent, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 21 of their last 23 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 93-334 record this season.
Cottage and Atlanta Area School for the Deaf will face off at 4:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Atlanta Area School for the Deaf is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Varsity Opponent will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Holy Child at 4:30 p.m. on January 22nd.
