The Norco Cougars posted their closest win yet this season on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 67-65 victory over Corona. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Norco was led to victory by Kameron Brown and Matthew Mendias. Brown scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and five steals, while Mendias scored 19 points along with five assists and three steals. Brown has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Ramiro Morales, who scored 11 points along with eight assists.
Norco's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-10. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 81.0 points per game. As for Corona, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-6.
Norco will take on Centennial at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Corona, they will head out on the road to challenge King at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
