The Barstow Knights will be playing in front of their home fans against the St. Pius X Warriors at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Last Tuesday, Barstow lost to Summit Christian Academy on the road by a decisive 48-33 margin.
St. Pius X suffered their biggest defeat since December 4, 2023 on Tuesday. Their rough 55-29 defeat to Chillicothe might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, St. Pius X can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 176th, while Chillicothe is ranked 18th).
Despite their defeat, St. Pius X saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Caroline McCoy, who scored ten points, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Macy Wilderson, who scored eight points along with four steals.
St. Pius X struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Barstow's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-6. As for St. Pius X, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.
