Basketball Recap: Braylon Fuller's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mead Hall Episcopal School over Briarwood Academy

After flying high against South Aiken Baptist Christian back in January, Mead Hall Episcopal School came back down to earth. The Mead Hall Episcopal School Panthers took a 57-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Briarwood Academy Buccaneers on Monday. The Panthers were probably out for revenge after losing 55-33 to them when the teams met back in January of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Mead Hall Episcopal School's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Braylon Fuller, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 boards. The contest was Fuller's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Brooks Abrams, who posted 13 points.

Even though they lost, Mead Hall Episcopal School smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Mekhi Elam continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Briarwood Academy, dropping a double-double on 26 points and 14 rebounds. With that strong performance, Elam is now averaging an impressive 15.6 points per game. Sam Mock was another key player, putting up 16 points in addition to eight boards and three steals.

Mead Hall Episcopal School dropped their record down to 5-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Briarwood Academy, their win bumped their record up to 15-4.

Mead Hall Episcopal School has already played their next game, a 49-48 loss against Augusta E on the 30th. As for Briarwood Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, an 89-59 victory against Alleluia Community on the 28th.
