Basketball Recap: Hunter Peed's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Friendship Christian over Thales Academy Rolesville

After flying high against Neuse Christian Academy last Thursday, Friendship Christian came back down to earth. The Friendship Christian Falcons received a blow on Friday as they fell 62-43 to the Thales Academy Rolesville Knights. The Falcons were down 48-23 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Friendship Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hunter Peed, who posted 21 points and five boards. Peed's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Josh Woodard was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, Friendship Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Thales Academy Rolesville was led to victory by Tony Lopez and Malachi Fischer. Lopez put up 15 points along with seven assists and three steals, while Fischer dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 boards. That's the most rebounds Fischer has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Liam Simons, who had 12 points and seven boards.

Friendship Christian suffered their first road loss, dropping their record down to 9-5. As for Thales Academy Rolesville, their record is now 9-13.

Friendship Christian will challenge Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Trinity of Durham and Chapel Hill has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 2-1 during that stretch of close contests. As for Thales Academy Rolesville, they will square off against St. Thomas More Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Thomas More Academy has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 184 points over their last three matches.
