South Spencer has gone 9-1 against Tell City recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The South Spencer Rebels will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tell City Marksmen at 1:30 p.m. South Spencer has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Last Monday, everything came up roses for South Spencer against Apollo as the squad secured a 53-21 win. The Rebels have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 20 points or more this season.
South Spencer found their leader in sophomore Jaci Meece, who went 5 for 6 on her way to 13 points in addition to five assists and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kali Wink, who posted 11 points.
South Spencer smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Tell City didn't have too much trouble with McLean County last Saturday as they won 47-29. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Marksmen.
South Spencer better keep an eye on Emme Hoesli. She was instrumental in Tell City's win, going 7 of 15 on her way to 20 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ollie Toothman, who had nine points along with seven boards and three steals.
The victory got South Spencer back to even at 6-6. As for Tell City, the win got them back to even at 7-7.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: South Spencer has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 26.3 boards per game. However, it's not like Tell City struggles in that department as they've been averaging 24.8 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
South Spencer strolled past Tell City in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 by a score of 53-38. Will South Spencer repeat their success, or does Tell City have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
