The Bridgeland Bears suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Saturday. They were dealt a 83-33 loss at the hands of Cypress Springs. While losing is never fun, Bridgeland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 270th, while Cypress Springs is ranked 12th).
Cypress Springs was led to victory by Jemini Mitchell and Ayla Mcdowell. Mitchell scored 24 points along with eight rebounds and four steals, while Mcdowell dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. Mcdowell has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last ten times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kameryn Howard, who scored four points along with eight rebounds and seven assists.
Bridgeland's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-12. As for Cypress Springs, the win (which was their 18th in a row) raised their record to 20-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bridgeland will take on Langham Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Langham Creek focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Wednesday. As for Cypress Springs, they will be playing at home against Cypress Park at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cypress Park has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 18.
