The Blount Leopards's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Hillcrest Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. Blount has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Last Monday, Blount was able to grind out a solid victory over LeFlore, taking the game 63-50. Given Blount's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 124th, while LeFlore is ranked 377th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Donniya Torrey, who scored 19 points.
Meanwhile, Hillcrest came up short against Escambia County on Monday and fell 46-36. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hillcrest in their matchups with Escambia County: they've now lost six in a row.
Hillcrest's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Sonija Evans, who scored five points along with ten steals and six rebounds, and Khloe Clark who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. Evans is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played.
Blount pushed their record up to 14-10 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. As for Hillcrest, their loss dropped their record down to 6-11.
