Ware Shoals's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the GREEN Upstate Owls a 17-0 shutout. The Hornets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by 12 runs or more this season.

Dalton Boyter was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Brayden Madden was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Luke Wooten was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

Ware Shoals kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Ware Shoals' victory bumped their record up to 12-5. As for GREEN Upstate, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Coming up, Ware Shoals will square off against McCormick at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. GREEN Upstate will be paying especially close attention to the Hornets' contest: after the Hornets faces off against the Chiefs, they'll take on GREEN Upstate again at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
