The Rock Canyon Jaguars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 20 points or more this season. They put the hurt on Overland with a sharp 70-50 victory on Friday. Rock Canyon's win was all the more impressive since Overland was averaging only 28.17 points allowed on the season.
Brooke Harding was her usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with seven assists and five steals. Those 23 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Sarah Davis, who scored 17 points along with four steals.
Overland's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Destiny Moore, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds, and Ilaisaane (Saane) Davis who scored 12 points along with five rebounds. Davis has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played.
Rock Canyon pushed their record up to 7-1 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.5 points per game. As for Overland, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-1.
Rock Canyon will head out on the road to face off against Lakewood at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lakewood will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 165th, while Rock Canyon is ranked 15th). Overland will take on Pomona in a holiday battle at 5:30 p.m. on Monday at. Hopefully Pomona focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 last Saturday.
