The result was an unpleasant reminder to Hernando Christian Academy of the 52-48 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2023.
Hernando Christian Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaden Montzka, who scored 24 points. That was a full 47.1% of Hernando Christian Academy's points, marking the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caydon Williams, who scored 15 points.
Academy at the Lakes' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nabil Delacurz, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. Matty Vreeland was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Hernando Christian Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season. As for Academy at the Lakes, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-12.
Hernando Christian Academy will take on Florida College Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Florida College Academy is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Academy at the Lakes, they will head out on the road to challenge Bishop McLaughlin Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Bishop McLaughlin Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 34 on Monday.
