Yerington is a perfect 10-0 against Battle Mountain since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Lions will venture away from home to challenge the Longhorns at 4:00 p.m. Yerington is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last seven games.
On Tuesday, Yerington got the win against Incline by a conclusive 7-1. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 games by six runs or more this season.
Brent Brinkley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up eight Ks.
On the hitting side, Nolan Landa was excellent, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Valor Angle, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Battle Mountain entered their tilt with Pershing County on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They had just enough and edged out the Mustangs 8-6.
Keegan Peasnall made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off 14 hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Battle Mountain is 4-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 6-9 otherwise. Peasnall was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jacob Perrone, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and one RBI. Battle Mountain is undefeated when Perrone posts two or more stolen bases, but 7-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Liam Bundrock, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.
Yerington pushed their record up to 19-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Battle Mountain, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.
Yerington beat Battle Mountain 4-0 when the teams last played back in March. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Longhorns turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
