Basketball Recap: Caden Edmond Key Part of a Team Effort in Eagles Win

Central posted their closest victory since December 29, 2023 on Friday. They had just enough and edged the Hartsville Red Foxes out 81-79.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Caden Edmond, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. That's the most points Edmond has posted since back in January. Another player making a difference was Demetrius Myers, who posted 26 points and three steals.

Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Several Red Foxes players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Derrion Gattison, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Zaries Huggins, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 18 points.

Central's win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Hartsville, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Central didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 67-40 victory against Lamar on the 28th. As for Hartsville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 72-32 win against Central Academy on the 28th.
