Baseball Game Preview: Green County Dragons vs. Male Bulldogs

The Green County Dragons will take on the Male Bulldogs at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Green County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.

Green County will bounce into Saturday's match after beating Taylor County, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Dragons came out on top in a nail-biter against the Cardinals on Thursday, sneaking past 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Dragons have posted against the Cardinals since May 30, 2016.

Tatum Durrett looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Andrew Houk was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Hayden Blakeman, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Male didn't have quite enough to beat Taylor County on Friday and fell 6-5.

West Bickett made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Cameron Levey was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Green County is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for Male, their loss dropped their record down to 13-16.

Male's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Green County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .342.
