Hollins hasn't had much luck against Osceola recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Hollins Royals will be playing in front of their home fans against the Osceola Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Hollins has given up an average of 8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
Hollins is headed into the matchup having just suffered their biggest defeat since April 4, 2024 on Thursday. They lost 12-6 to Largo. The Royals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Aubri Cofield and Gianna Close stepped up to the plate in a big way. Cofield scored a run while going 3-for-3, while Close scored two runs while going 4-for-4. What's more, Close posted four hits, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Ava Vargas was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Even though they lost, Hollins was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Osceola put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Seminole 13-2. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won five games by 11 runs or more so far this season.
Theresa Diez was a standout: she scored four runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Angelina Rodriguez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles.
Osceola pushed their record up to 6-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Hollins, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Hollins has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Osceola struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Hollins might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Osceola in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will Hollins have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
