Cort Willis was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with six RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Chene Thompson was a standout: he scored four runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last eight games he's played. Zack Franklin also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
East Iberville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .743. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Port Allen got themselves on the board against East Feliciana on Monday, but East Feliciana never followed suit. They blew past the Tigers 20-0. Winning may never get old, but the Pelicans sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row.
Carson Chapman made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Chapman was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.
In other batting news, Hunter Bodin was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Evan Trabeaux was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3.
Port Allen pushed their record up to 12-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for East Iberville, their record now sits at 8-6.
Wednesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. East Iberville has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .535. However, it's not like Port Allen struggles in that department as they've averaged .543. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went East Iberville's way against Port Allen when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as East Iberville made off with a 12-0 win. Will East Iberville repeat their success, or does Port Allen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
