The Woodland Wolverines will venture away from home to take on the St. John's Islanders at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Woodland has given up an average of 9.7 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
While Woodland's victory against Timberland wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wolverines sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-11 win over the Wolves on Tuesday. The Wolverines' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Mac Milligan was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Luke Crosby was incredible, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Garrett Matthews, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Woodland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Porter-Gaud hit St. John's with a seven-run fifth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Islanders lost 14-2 to the Cyclones. The Islanders' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
St. John's saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Robert Grant, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
St. John's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Woodland, their record now sits at 3-12.
Woodland might still be hurting after the 13-0 loss they got from St. John's when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can the Wolverines avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
