The Indian Creek Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their seventh straight loss. They fell to Gerstell Academy 63-58. While losing is never fun, Indian Creek can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 190th, while the are ranked 35th).
Despite the loss, Indian Creek saw an underclassman step up: Kyle Harvin scored 19 points. Harvin continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Aiden Evans was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Indian Creek dropped their record down to 7-12 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Gerstell Academy, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Indian Creek will square off against the Dons at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Loyola Blakefield's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven games. As for Gerstell Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge the Saints at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
