Cory-Rawson hasn't had much luck against Perry recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Fighting Hornets will look to defend their home field against the Commodores at 5:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Cory-Rawson is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Monday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of Waynesfield-Goshen. On the bright side, the eight- run effort marked the Fighting Hornets' highest-scoring game to date.
Mason Hall was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He struck out 11 batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. Hall was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those RBI were his first of the season.
Hall wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Dom Moon, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Wyatt Foust was another, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 14 runs the game before, Perry was a bit more limited in their match on Monday. They fell just short of North Baltimore by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Commodores have suffered since April 22, 2024.
Perry's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Cory-Rawson, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Cory-Rawson has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Perry struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Cory-Rawson suffered a grim 17-4 defeat to Perry when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Fighting Hornets have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
