Villa Rica is a perfect 7-0 against Rome since August of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Wildcats will challenge the Wolves at 5:00 p.m. Villa Rica is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
It was a proper cat-fight when Villa Rica challenged Chapel Hill on Monday. The Wildcats blew past the Panthers 13-5. The high-scoring effort was just what the Wildcats needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Peyton Harrison and Helaina Magistro made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Harrison tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Magistro didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. At the plate, Harrison went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run, while Magistro earned one run and two stolen bases. Those two hits gave Harrison a new career-high.
In other batting news, Sophia Plagemann was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in August. Another player making a difference was Ryann Ackles, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Rome came up short against South Paulding on Monday, falling 16-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Wolves in their meetings with the Spartans: they've now lost nine in a row.
Rome saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madyson Thacker, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.
Rome's loss dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Villa Rica, their record is now 14-9.
Rome's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Villa Rica has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Rome, though, as they've been averaging only 4.1 strikeouts. Will Villa Rica keep running through batters, or will the Wolves buck the trend?
Everything went Villa Rica's way against Rome in their previous matchup on September 4th, as Villa Rica made off with a 17-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
