Softball Recap: Fort Meade Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Fort Meade had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They were the clear victor by an 18-8 margin over the Avon Park Red Devils. For the Miners, this counts as revenge for the 7-6 win the Red Devils walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Fort Meade let Makayla Deleon and Kenya Faulk run wild. Deleon scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 3-for-5, while Faulk scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Deleon is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Marleigh Carroll, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Fort Meade pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Avon Park, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fort Meade will face off against Lakeland Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Avon Park will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lake Placid at 7:30 p.m. on March 18th.
